Biography
Laiping Zhao (赵来平), Full Professor (Yingcai Professor), Doctoral Supervisor in the College of Intelligence and Computing at Tianjin University, Associate Dean of the School of Software. National-level Talent. Executive Committee Member of CCF Computer Architecture Technical Committee and System Software Technical Committee.
His current research interests include intelligent computing systems and operating systems. He has published over 50 papers in prestigious journals and conferences in the computing systems field, including top-tier conferences and journals such as ASPLOS, SC, TOCS, ATC, and EuroSys, representing Tianjin University’s first breakthroughs in international top-tier conferences including ASPLOS, HPCA, ATC, EuroSys, and HPDC. He has been granted over 30 national invention patents and led over 10 projects including national-level young talent programs, key R&D program topics, and provincial major special projects.
His research has received numerous prestigious awards, including Best Paper Finalist at SC'21 (CCF-A), Best Paper Award at ICPADS'22, Best Paper Award at IFIP NPC'24, Best Student Paper Award at AINA'12, and Tianjin Municipal Science and Technology Progress Special Prize in 2021 for the research achievement “Software-Defined Cloud Computing Resource Management Platform”.
He is the Chair of Tianjin University’s OpenHarmony Club, organizing faculty and students to carry out industry-academia-research collaboration, with related achievements applied in multiple courses at Tianjin University. The student teams he guides work on operating system-related technologies and participate in high-level competitions, winning awards including National Special Prize at the “Challenge Cup” National College Students’ Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition (2024, 2025), National First Prize at the Graduate Open Source Operating System Competition (2025), National Second Prize at the National College Students Computer System Capability Competition - Operating System Design Competition (2024), and Tianjin Gold Award at the China International “Internet+” College Students’ Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition (2023).
